Fifth School Daze

Rolly awakened that bright Saturday morning by opening his eyes when his alarm clock chirped out to him. He sat up from his futon and streched his arms over his shoulders and yarned. The needles of sleep were still poking at his brain but today was a large day for Rolly and he was eager to be away from his bed and therefore awake. His mind made up, he lay back and rolled out from under his covers onto his hard Japanese Flooring. He stood up then and stretched in his pujamus.

He wanted to look his best for his meeting with Sugizio so he started the shower, running. He changed into his showering clothes and got in, taking care to wash extra well. His mother walked passed the bathroom and smacked the wall of it to let Rolly know that water was not free and that had been quite long enough of a shower by now. He turned the water off and removed himself from the shower and began to do what people do when they get out of the shower. He dried off and brushed his teeth and felt his wet hair. He opened the door to the bathroom and walked through the doorway. He entered the hall in a towel and walked acrosst it to his room which took seven steps.

Once in his room Rolly, he went to his wardrobe and picked out his clothes that he would wear to Sugizio's house. He lied out his best black pants that were pressed into submission by a hot iron and a crisp white shirt. He added a new jacket that he had bought because all the kids were wearing them these days. When he was satisfied with their matching capabilities he applied the clothing to his body in a way that he was wearing them. He looked in his full-length mirror and nodded when he saw he looked as good as a Rolly could look.

He moved his feet over to his vanity which wasn't very far because his room was tiny. He sat in front of it. He stared into his medium-sized but humble mirror and took a good look at himself. His wide eyes stared back at him through square framing glasses. His eyesight wasn't very bad, but he felt a need to wear glasses because he was unpopular and that's what unpopular students wore to distinguish themself from the well-liked school-goers. His eyebrows were naturally thin and curved above his glasses, black against his yellow skin. He smiled and his straight and almost non existant lips curved upwards in a frightening smile underneath his straight pinched nose. His now dry hair lay atop his head, black as an exploded ink bottle. He combed it in the regular bissness man like way and nodded. As he looked into the meer he applied some foundation so that his skin would be a nice even yellow for Sugizio.

He was excited to see Sugizio and his home, but he was nervous about what he was going to learn or if he'd be able to learn. Sugizio was frightening and sometimes unfriendly but Rolly couldn't help feeling that there was kindness in Sugizio's heart, even if he was quick to criticize and maim. Rolly smiled to himself and pushed his glasses up, standing in his room. It was almost time to leave, but he walked over to the small aquarium near his bed and looked in.

"Ah, looks like you're out of food, Benjamin," Rolly said, noting the empty dish. He got some rice pellets and dropped them into the dish. "Your a good boy," he smiled, petting his pet rock. Benjamin was silent but seemed to enjoy the attention from Rolly. Rolly felt comforted by his pet, and put in a special rice cake as a treat for Benjamin. He gave him a final pat on the head before he closed the small aquarium, making sure to close it fully so Benjamin wouldn't escape and wander around Rolly's room and possibly hurt himself.

Rolly took a lasting look into the mirror before he headed out of his room, walking. He got to the kitchen and told his mother he was going out for the day and she merely said nothing while he applied his shoes to his feet. He finished velcroing his shoes and left the house through the doorway. He jumped onto his bike and looked at Sugizio's busniess card before heading off in the direction that the card suggestion Sugizio's location was resident.

It was a bright sunny day and Rolly noted this as he pedated his way toward his goal. A soft breeze blew through his black hair and he closed his eyes to enjoy it. He sped downhill through a red light, smiling as the wind tickled his cheeks. He came to a flat area and cruised along the streets. He saw a dog biting a homeless man's hand and smiled. The hobo yelled out in anguishing pain, and Rolly rung his bell joyously as he passed. As he pedaled down the freeway, Rolly saw a business man stripping for change on the overpass above. He could hear an empty techono beat rattle down to him, and a shirt the man had discarded fluttered down onto the speeding traffic lanes below. Rolly swerved to avoid it, causing a car to swerve to avoid Rolly and crash into the side barrier.

Rolly wondered at the time and looked down at his watch, causing his bike to wobble back and forth. He swerved in front of a bus and saw that it was 1:56pm. He had for minutes to get to Sugizio's house or he'd be late and Sugizio might not let him in at all. He pedaled harder, causing him to breathe more actively and move from the buses trajectory driving destiniation.

The wind was no longer tickling his face but biting it, and as his feet circled the bike's parts furiously, his pink and purple streamers glittering violently in the current of air from the clouds. He nearly crashed into a soba cart, but instead zoomed past it with agility, catching a brief sniff of Japanese Food. He thought of Benjamin and decided he'd buy him a treat on the way home. Benjamin was a picky eater, though. Rolly knew not to give him carrots or celary because they gave him awful stomachaches and sometimes gave him diareah. He knew chocolate wasn't good for him, too, so he settled on dried fish biscuits, knowing that those were his favorite. Rolly nodded against the gale current and took a sharp turn down an alley. He slowed now that he was in a residential area and near his destinaytion. He looked again at the card he'd so fondly slipped into his chest pocket. 74 Spanko Alwy. He looked up and saw Homo-sin Lane and saw that Spanko Alleyway was perpendickilar to it. He bicycled down to it and looked at the numbers. 68...245...90...15...5634....ah, 74! 74 Spanko Alwy rested at the end of the Lane. There were small and humble houses along the lane, but number 74 was a grand spectacle. There was a large gate in an imposing stone wall. Rolly admired the traditional architeckshure. He could see the tops of some Japanese Tries over the top of the wall. He approached the gating figure slowly, dismounting his bike and walking it to the entrance.

He looked up at it, uncertain as to if he should knock himself upon it or shout over the top, "Hello, I'm at the gate!!" But before he could embarrass himself either way, the gate opened suddenly with ease and dileberation. Rolly looked around to see what had caused this sudden strain on the hinges and saw a prose butler standing straight ahead.

"Sir Rolly, I conjecture?" the butler postulated, looking at Rolly with his eyes.

"Ah...Ah, hai! Rolly desu," Rolly spat out nervously.

"Yes, yes. Come along," said the buttler, waving Rolly inside. Once inside Rolly saw the bottoms of the trees he had seen the top of. But that was not all he saw. He was astounded to see a great lot of peroperty, which had been artfully landscaped. There was a zen garden in the corner and a path of sand and stone around it. A small pond made trickling noises which reached Rolly's sculpted ears. The grounds were filled with beautiful Japanese trees and trained cicadas could be heard singing their winter song. Rolly stood in awe at the sights, but it was nothing to see this then see the estate which stood before Rolly. He looked to it and saw it was an amazingly traditional Japanese Seigneury. From the tiled roof too the Japanese Style it was Japanese to a tea. He jolted from his admiration as the butler renched his bike from Rolly's stark fingers, sliding it into a bike holder beside the entrance.

The butler directed Rolly inside the house, where he entered. The house was even more splendoured inside. Paintings and plants were littered about the room with taste and conneisance. As Rolly walked in admiration, the butler guided him to a small room with a table and tea set out. He was told to sit by it and he did. The butler told him that Sugizio would be with him shortly and that he was to wait patiently for him. He did this and sat, waiting for Sugizio to be with him.

Fourth School Daze

Rolly made his way into the classroom in which he was to be detained for his detentionary duties. He was glad to see that all the boys had left and only the teacher remained, who was sitting at his desk reading Discreet Young Gentlemen, sniveling to himself. As Rolly approached, he put the book face down and looked up at Rolly.

"Ehmm. I'm very sorry to see you here, Mister Rolly," he said, looking over his rimmed glasses in a very sur la table manner.

"It was not my fault, sensei! Those bugs--" at that the teacher put his hand up as if to silence him, which what it did indeed do. Rolly silenced.

"Now, now. I don't want to hear why you brought your pets to school, but I'm afraid I'll hear no excuses for it. A school just is not a place for insects," he said, as a fly buzzed around his head. "For a start, why don't you pick up that row of toppled desks." Rolly looked back and saw in fact a whole row of toppled desks lying there mysteriously. As he observed he saw a boy caught between a desk and a chair trying to wriggle free, his spine protruding at a peculiar angle. "I cannot for the live of me figure out how they got in such a way. Those boys must be quite rowdy when they hear the bell ring. Very well, get too it." And at this mention he waved his hand about as though it were a firm smack on the rump for Rolly to get into action. And so Rolly jumped into as much and started at the beginning of the wreckage, first patting what he knew to be Sugizio's, desk lovingly. He picked up the first desk and then the chair that went with it, and so he did continuously, pulling the battered boy out of the ruins and leaving him to writhe between the desk rows, until he had finished.

He walked up to the teacher who was now reading The Back Passage, and told him that he was finished. He looked and said he had done very good work and he thanked him for saying so. He looked at him, and he put his book down as he put his hand on his desk. His eyes searched his and he saw they were of the usual Japanese Brown, and he smiled at this, running his fingers through his hair. "What should I do with that boy over there?" he asked him. "Oh, I don't know, shouldn't you call a nurse?" he replied, looking around the classroom as if he hadn't been there every day since the start of the school year. "Perhaps you are right but for now he may lie there," he shot back, also looking around. He hummed a tune in his head, while he drummed his fingers on his desk, waiting. He looked to his shirt and noticed a stain on the shirt pocket, and he began to scratch at it as though it might come out thus. "Thank you," he said, and he nodded. He walked over to the window and he followed. "Look at that, birds nest," he scowled pointing it out to him. "Ah, yes. Look at it," he nodded, looking at it. "By the way," he added, "I'm going to a concert tonight." "Really?" he asked, gazing out the window. "That sounds like it would be fun. Whose playing?" "Ah, the Rolling Stones!" "Wow, what fun that will be." "Yes, thank you," he said as he threw birdseed out the window onto the heads of students leaving for their homesteads. As the students looked up in fury and made rude signals to him, he stuck his head out. "A ha! My mistake! Sorry about that," he called, waiting until they disappeared around the corner before throwing more on another boy's heads. "Oh, is there something you would have me do?" he asked. "Ah, yes, why don't you go along and wipe off all the desks," he replied and walked over to his desk where he sat and commenced with his reading. As he did this, he walked over to the closet and pulled out the Janitor's pail of dirtay water and a rag.

Rolly took an additional pail and went to get fresh water, returning and setting it beside the dirty. He first dipped the rag in the clean water and cleaned Sugizio's desk solicitously, taking care to see it shone and sparked as was fit for one such as Sugizio. He then took care to wash his own desk with fresh water as he thought he deserved as much. Then he put away the clean water and snapped a rubber glove on, finding the most moldiest rag he could come across and dunking it in the dirty water that was brown for untold reasons because though water took up volumes, it did not speak volumes. Even if you gathered all the water in the world into a single gymnasium for a water convention and held a special water conference, the water would still tell you nothing. Nevertheless Rolly took the brown-soaked rag and wiped down all the rest of the desks with the concoction, leaving them smelling of mold and spoilt water. He took care to drip some water inside the desks of those boys who were particularly rude to him, knowing it would smell much worse by the next morning.

Now that he was sated he put the scumbuckets into the janitorial closet and walked to the teacher who had his nose buried in The Price of Temptation, and seem quite lost in it. "Sensei, I'm finished now," Rolly said, from beside his desk.

"Huh?? Oh, very well, you may go," he mumbled, eager to get back to his reading. Rolly grinned, glad to be free. He scooped up his book bag under his arm and skipped down the classroom, jumping over the crippled boy, and bursting out of the classroom. It was rare that he was alone inside the greatly empty school, and he found it calming and pleasant. He went to the first story at a relaxed pace, skipping down the steps with glee. He briefly wondered where Sugizio had gone off to, but was sure he must have gone home by now. He then not-so-briefly wondered where Sugizio lived. He laughed to himself, thinking he must be a prince living in a Japanese Castle. He reached the gakuen courtyard now and made for the bikeyard where he'd rested his sparklingly joyous bike. He went around the corner of the courtyard, but quickly stopped at what he saw. Sugizio was holding another boy by his collar in front of the bike rack. Rolly instinctively hid behind the wall and peeked around the corner to abserve the scene.

The boy was gasping and spluthering about as Sugizio held him up by his own uniform that he had no doubt pressed with love day after day only to have it betray him for a stronger boy and in turn strangling him. Rolly squinted to the scene that was over five feet away and gasped inside to see that it was Kurayamashidonandakamirakumipirutandoromu that Sugizio held in a grip of death. As Rolly peeked sheepishly around the corner his eyes widened to see the boys from earlier who had gotten him detention. They were not, however, standing around in a circle around the spectacle as that description had perhaps implied, but were in a great heap of bodies and bruised eyes and pain as well as some suffering. Rolly blushed, Why is he doing this? He'll get in so much trouble... but his question was soon not to be answered.

"Wh...why are you doing this?! You potatopincher! Grryarlrgh," gargbled the woolen Kurayamashidonandakamirakumipirutandoromu, putting his hands on Sugizio's and trying to remove them from his jacket. "You'll soon...regret this...that's for sure. My, my dad. He's...yakuza," he tried to smirk, attempting a brave face in the face of his adversity.

"What?! Oh...oh, my God!" Sugizio said, dropping the boy with a very exotic name to the ground roughly where he feel with an unpleasant lump. "What am I to do now?!" Sugizio said, putting his hands over his face with worry.

Rolly watched with misfortune, wishing he could run to comfort Sugizio but finding himself rooted to his spot by some unseen plant matter. While he contemplated his being seemily glued to concrete brood by hard-muscled construction workmen he was broken from his thoughts to hear a cruel laugh. He was upset to hear Kurayamashidonandakamirakumipirutandoromu mocking Sugizio now, but looked round the corner to see instead Sugizio laughing with his head thrown back. He seemed simply overjoyed, and Rolly had not known him able to laugh like that. He wondered if the grounded boy had cracked a joke in the heat of the moment, but soon discovered what ailed Sugizio.

"A yakuza you say? Your father?" He said, looking down at the lump of boy on the concrete, still laughing and now resting his foot upon it in a casual manner. "And what have I to fear of an old man? No yakuza alive would scare me," he said, his teeth gritted in the crueller of grins.

Rolly's heart swelled as he looked at him, simple overtaken by how amazingly cool he was. He was knowing him better every day and he loved this very much. His breath quickend as he watched for what would happen next. As he watched, what was next happened.

As Sugizio's grin bore down on the lengthy boy, his threats broke and he began to shake with fear. Sugizio laughed to see this and swiftly quicked him in the stomach, to which the boy responded with groans and absurdities. "Perhaps that will teach you some manners, you slovenly chunk of wasted tissue matter," he spat, glaring at the boy.

The boy looked up at him with fearful eyes and began to cry a coward's tears. Water and salt rushed from his eyes like a waterfall of shame with salt in it though shame had a salty taste to it already so it was instead an overly salty waterfall which left a man with a feeling of disgust and little pithy or mercy. Rolly looked at him and felt similarly, remembering the terrible things he'd been done to. He almost wished to jump out from the corner and kick the boy himself, but was afraid that Sugizio's demonic countenance would be turned onto Rolly instead and Rolly was not in the mood for a beating. So instead he just enjoyed watching Sugizio give the boy some kicks and punches. When he was finished with this siege of the boy's face, Sugizio took him by his hair then let go, letting his head drop into the cold pavement. He smirked as the boy was too weary to resist much and so he rolled him into the mud near the bikes as the bikes often went through and ripped through the ground leaving the grass weary and too weak to live a long and prosperous life with this constant abuse and battery and so it was worked into a fine wet and muddy mess which the bully-turned-beaten now lay face down in. Sugizio walked on the boy's back to see that he was properly sunk into the mud while taking care to make sure his own stylish shoes remained unscathed. When he was satisfied by the squelching of mud around the boy he gracefully hopped back to solid concrete and admired his handywork. He smirked as he looked around and pulled a box of cigarettes from his pocket and set one alite before smoking it with finesse and style.

At this display Rolly could hold himself back no longer and he ran out from the corner in fury. Sugizio looked up from his cigarette and showed no surprise as Rolly ran to him.

"What are you thinking?!" Rolly fumed. "How could you do such a thing!" he cried out to Sugizio, taking him by the soldiers. He simmered and made a terrible face at Sugizio, who relaxly blew out his cigarette exhaust, being considerate enough not to blow it in Rolly's face, but out to the side, so that he made a very alluring D with his lips. Rolly stared into his lips, but came back to his sense and would not lay down his fury at Sugizio for doing this vile act. "I thought better of you. Don't you know cigarettes kill?!" he sniffed, frowning childlessly at Sugizio.

Rolly thought Sugizio seemed to smile the slightest of smiles, though if he had it was now gone and his familiar expessionless yet challenging face returned. Rolly returned it with an exasperatedly lascivious look, and Sugizio gently slid Rolly's hands from his shoulders and turned to look at some far-off thought.

"Oh, I meant to ask you," said Rolly. "Why were you beating those boys up?"

Sugizio turned his face to him at this question and dragged on his cigar-ette. His eyes searched Rolly's face as though looking for something like beauty. They didn't appear to find it however and he said simply, "I felt like it." Rolly seemed satisfied with this answer and grinned outwardly toward Sugizio, who simply ran his delicate, yet strong, fingers through his hair. Rolly admired how it glistened in the sunlight and noticed the simple rings that adorned his long fingers. As Sugizio struck an undeniably attractive pose, Rolly's eyes stayed glued to him and his mouth hung open in a V shape.

Rolly noticed that he had not said anything to Sugizio's curt reply, and stuttered something like, "Oh, I ...see," out. Sugizio's coolness intimidated him and he found nothing to say to him. He looked down at the bullies floating body in the mud, trying to think of something to say, and still found nothing. As much as it pained him to leave Sugizio, he decided it was best and went to his bike, unclipping the lock. He looked up as he mounted his pink mountain bike. "Will you still teach me? As you said?"

Sugizio continued his distance examination and drug on his cigarette before looking at Rolly. "If I have said I will, then I will." His eyes threatened to explode Rolly's brain, but Rolly was strong and took the gaze willingly, returning them as fiercely as he could.

"Then when?" He asked, as fierce as his gaze.

Sugizio studied him silently, "Saturday. At two." He paused to pull a crisp card from his pocket. "My place," he stated flicking the business card out to Rolly, who took it consentedly. He knew the Japanese Cutom was to take the business card with care and read it carefully. He didn't know if Sugizio cared for such things, but he decided to be safe and inspected it.

It was made from fine paper and was thick, colored not an off-white but a pale cream. It felt smooth, but not quite glossy. The attractive font read "SUGIZIO: manly mystery", followed by an address and two telephone numbers. Rolly made sure to take note of the address, reading it through carefully. He realized it was not far from his own place of residence, but was it was far enough to be in the nicest part of town. He thought Sugizio must be a prince after all. He smiled to himself and looked up as if to see his prince before him. But instead of his manly sovereign, he found no one and could see that the schoolyard was completely emptied of bodies, excluding his own, the battered pile of boys and the lump gurgling in the mud beside him. Rolly could see no where that he might have disappeared into, but knew that he was gone and would not be found even if he began a search and not even if he had called the polices who would set a permiter and search every place in the school. No, he was not here and Rolly knew this.

He took the business car and settled it fondly beside the popsickle stick in his knap sack. He was sure they would become fast friends in his saftey box, provided that the stick was washed so that it would not splay any of its sticky remnants onto the beloved card which was equally if not more so important. Rolly put his feet to his petals and he made like a bicyclist and rode off through the schoolyard to his slovenly home where he could reflect on the day's sorrows and happies.

Third School Daze

Rolly sat through his classes with the other students as he usually did during school. The teacher was talking about some subject but Rolly wasn't paying much attention and instead his rolling eyes fell upon the back of a certain person's head. It was not the teacher's head, as perhaps his eyes should have been locked onto as he was teaching valuable learning techniques at the time, but it was Sugizio's. Sugizio was sitting closer to the font of the class and seemed to be paying attention, even if he wasn't. He casually scratched his neck with his hand, and Rolly caught a glimpse of his skin under his cape.

Rolly yawned, then covered his mouth quickly and began to blush as he remembered why he hadn't gotten any sleep. After he'd climbed into his sparkling pajamas and trying to sleep in the fetal position he found his brain just wouldn't shut off. And he couldn't help himself from thinking about the amazing stunt Sugizio had pulled that day. If it hadn't been for him, he'd still smell like mocha latte because today just wasn't his bath day and his mother had strickt rules about that. He didn't even like coffee, much less the smell of it so it was good that Sugizio had showed when he had. He's so great, he couldn't help himself thinking over and over like a broken tape recorder that is doomed to record the same sound in the same moment in time for all eternity whether its batteries die or not, like most tape recorders these days. Maybe one day I'll be as strong as he is, he thought to himself. And maybe one day...we'll call each other...'friend'. He blushed in the dark, and smiled into his pillow as he hugged it tightly. He finally fell asleep to this thought and as he dreamed of nice things and such a small night bird fluttered into his room through his open japanese window. It perched over his traditional futon and looked down on him as though it were watching over Rolly's gentle soul, but also as though Rolly had done something shameful and needed to be looked down upon by a passing nocturnal bird. The bird seemed satisfied with its observations and took flight, but instead of being flown out the window with its wings, it flew directly into the glass of the window because after all birds cannot see in the dark.

As Rolly's thoughts drifted back to the class at hand his eyes returned to the back of Sugizio's head, which was in the same place as it had been before, on top of Sugizio's body. Rolly must have been staring loudly however, as Sugizio seemed to notice and turned around to look with agility. He was a fast turner and Rolly wasn't quite able to look away before Sugizio saw. His face grew hot and he pretended to stare out the window intently. Sugizio said nothing however because they were in the middle of class and that would have been somewhat rude to the teacher and he probably would have gotten in trouble as well and anyway maybe he didn't have anything to say since he tended to be a boy of less than few words, so instead he turned back to the front of the class and went back to being silent.

As Rolly was recovering from the embarrassment he had just witnessed, his face slowly returned to its normal japanese coloring and he straightened his tight uniform. As he did this some students behind him were observing this and scoffing. They found everything Rolly did to be annoying and couldn't stand looking at him. Everything he did seemed to reinforce their irritation with his gaiety. They were conspiring in the back of class today about how to humiliate him. Once they'd decided, they consigned to set their plan in motion and so they did. The boys had brought a jar with scary bugs inside it to class and now they released them onto Rolly's desk while he looked out the window.

"Ah!!" Rolly cried, standing up in shock and fear. The frightening insects scattered over Rolly's desk and threatened to jump onto his tight uniform. "Kyaaaa!" he screeched, moving away from his bugged desk.

At his disruption, the teacher turned from the chalkboard. "Rolly! Please do not disrupt my class. That is not like you at all. And what is more, please do not bring your pet insects to school with you!" he said to Rolly sternly. Rolly was just about it in tears now, and so were the boys only with laughter. "I am afraid I will have to give you detention for this. I simply will not allow my classroom to be thrown in disarray in such a manner. I will see you after school." At this Rolly grabbed his book bag and ran out of the classroom to go sob in the bathroom.

The boys who had ruined his day laughed even harder at that and the teacher went back to writing formulaes on the chalking board. The usually expressionless Sugizio furrowed his brows in thought. He nodded in his mind and stood up. He did not merely stand up as any polite Japanese person might, however, but he stood, pushing his chair out behind him violently. So violently that it smacked back and hit the desk behind it, which hit the boy and chair behind it, which hit the desk behind those, which hit the boy and chair behind that desk, and so it went and the force from Sugizio's calves knocked into every object and person in that row and the boys that had been less than favorable to Rolly fell over and landed on the desk behind them and so forth until it was just a pile of wreckage and debri behind the standing Sugizio. The teaching man looked away from the chalkboard for a moment after hearing all that commotion to see Sugizio standing at his desk.

"Ah, yes, Sugizio-san?" he questioned, looking passed his glasses.

"I need to use the restroom," Sugizio stated.

"Very well, you may go," the sensei said, nodding to the boy who was yet also a man. At that Sugizio left the room, not giving the wreckage a second, or first, look, venturing off toward the cafeteria.

Rolly sat in a stall in the boise bathroom, sniffling quietly into his hands. Nothing ever went right for poor Rolly. He hadn't had a good day until Sugizio arrived and even then they were mostly bad. I'm so stupid, he thought in his mind. How could I ever think things would get better just because Sugizio was around. Even if he wanted to he couldn't save me from all the ruthless bullies in this danged school. As he realized his fate was hopeless his tears renewed themselves and fell into his open palms where his face was resting. He cried and sniffled to himself, pitying his pathetic lifestyle when he heard the bathroom door open. He stifled his sobs and wiped his face dry as he listened to the mystery person walk down to the stalls. The person did walk as was expected of a person entering a bathroom from the door because one would need to walk to reach the stalls and people didn't generally run for them unless they were particularly rushed or felt a feeling of urgency. Rolly saw the person's shoes go by his stall toward the empty stalls. They were clean and shiny and simply stylish. They moved toward the empty stalls, but stopped and walked back to the occupied stall which Rolly was currently engaging and simply stood in front of it. Rolly became nervous wondering what the person was doing, and gasped when the person began to knock loudly on the stall portal.

"Uh...uhm, it's in use! O-occupied!" Rolly squeaked apprehensively. The knocking persisted however and he became more nervous. "I'm in here!" he cried.

"Get out! I want to use this one," a clear voice shot through the air from the other side of the wooden door like a shot through a wood panel that zoomed through the slivers and shreds of wood only to crash into a person's skull and rip apart its brain matter so that it was no longer a brain cavity but more of a mush chamber, and Rolly indeed heard this voice like a bang.

"B-but!" Rolly stuttered, shocked that someone would need to use this particular stall as it wasn't even the nicest. Smart people knew to use the handicapped stall because not only was it larger but they knew that some people strayed from that individual stall because of the statement it made. People did not want other people to think they were handicapped and so they would do whatever they could to use a normal stall. Who knows what people would think when they saw a seemingly able bodied human bean go into a stall for cripples. What's wrong with him? they might wonder, trying to locate the disability with their pruposed method of x-ray vision through the person's clothing matter. Intelligent people, however, enjoyed using the facilities because they were open-wide and usually had more toilet paper than the normal, often used stalls because they were less used.

"What? Would you rather I broke down the door?" the salacious voice asked.

Rolly was scared, but decided to just leave the bathroom and unlocked the stall. Before he could push it open it was pulled from the other side by the mysterious bathroom resident.

"Oh, it's you," said Sugizio, staring at Rolly with his arms crossed.

"Ah, Sugizio-san!" Rolly blushed. "I didn't realize..." he mumbled, staring at his feet. As Sugizio stood silently staring at him, Rolly shuffled past him and sat on the bench located opposite the sinks, sighing quietly.

Sugizio was silent for a few moments before he moved and reached into his side satchel and pulled something from it. "I don't suppose you like these?" he asked, handing the object to Rolly.

"Waow...A...A lard popsicle? This is my favorite! Did you get this for me?" Rolly asked, blushing happily and looking up at Sugizio.

"Don't be stupid. I chose strawberry but the machine gave me that instead," he said, looking at his nails and leaning against the bathroom stall.

"Oh, of course..." Rolly said, opening the package and licking, the popsicle. He enjoyed it's greasy animal contents while Sugizio took a casual seat next to him.

"You really know how to have a shit day. Detention, hmm?" Sugizio said, staring at the sinks across from him.

Rolly looked at him. His chin-lengthed hair hung around his face like a curtain of silk strands, framing his pale skin with light black hair. The mask he wore over his eyes seemed to be more a part of his face and it was of a simple black design. From outside the black obstruction, Rolly could see Sugizio's clear almond eyes. His nicely shaped eyes bore long shapely eyelashes and Rolly couldn't do anything but think about how beautiful they were. As he stared at them, they blinked every so often. His eyes moved down to Sugizio's lips which were smooth and full as well as slightly parted. He enjoyed looking at them, but he didn't know why. After a few minutes of admiring Sugizio's appearance, Rolly finally responded. "Yeah, it stinks. I've never had detention before... What am I going to do."

"Well, now's as good a time as any to start getting detention," Sugizio said, mysteriously. "Besides, that teacher's a pansy. He'll probably even let you out early."

"Yeah, you're probably right..." Rolly said, smiling a little.

"Of course I'm right," Sugizio said, standing to his feet. As soon as he was in an upright position the school bell rang as though Sugizio's feet commanded the school's bell and clock system and he had deigned it time for school to end. Either way, school was now released.

"I have somewhere I need to be. As do you," he said, looking down at Rolly. "I suppose I'll see you tomorrow." And with that he exitted the bathroom and turned to walk down the hall leaving Rolly alone with his popsicle.

Sugizio was, of course, right, and he needed to be getting to detention so he stood and pulled his tight uniform into a tidy position. He finished his precious snack from Sugizio and slipped the remaining stick into his book bag for sentimental safe keeping. After that he pushed the bathroom door open and also excited the bathroom. As he walked down the hall to the classroom of detention he once again found an uncontrollable smile grow over his face and dominate his expression without asking Rolly so that he was left with a large grin. Suddenly his day wasn't so bad after all.

Second School Daze

After Rolly had been rescued so galantly by Sugizio, he began to notice the mysterious transfer student a lot more often. During class instead of reading his textbook he would catch himself watching the peculiar addition to their class out of the corner of his eye.

Sugizio seemed to notice the attention but ignored it as it seemed unobtrusive. Rolly however, was determined to learn more about the new boy and carefully took note of his daily habits. It wasn't until several days later that Rolly's quiet spying came to an end and he worked up the courage to interact with young Sugizio.

Sugizio was in the cafeteria, eating his Japanese sandwich unabashedly, biting into its tender flesh with abandon, swallowing it to depths where it would later be slowly digested and eventually evacuated. Rolly spotted him from several feet away, noticing that he ate alone and without company. He approached the sandwiching student slowly from behind, stopping a few feet from him. Rolly was nervous and afraid of the transfer student, and he couldn't find the nerve to get his attention so he stood behind him awkwardly, fidgeting and blustering.

"Can I help you?" the transfer student suddenly asked. Rolly gasped, covering his mouth. "Oh, uhm," he said through his fingers. "I'm sorry, I was just... Can I sit next to you?" There was a long pause as Sugizio chewed through his sandwich. "I suppose," he said. "Oh, thank you," he said sitting down. "How's your day going?" he asked. "Same as always, I would guess." "Oh, I see. Mine too." "Fascinating." "Yeah.." Rolly said, removing his hands from over his mouth.

After a long period of silent chewing from Sugizio, Rolly leaned over and pulled his power ranger lunch box out from his back pack, quietly pulling out the lunch contents from its plastic bowels. He inaudibly nibbled on some shredded parsnips, chancing a few glances at the stoic Sugizio, who merely stared straight ahead, gnawing on his pickled sandwich.

"Ano...." Rolly mumbled.

Sugizio said nothing, looking to Rolly then looking away again, staring off into some seemingly endless abyss.

"Well, eto... I was thinking. Maybe..." Rolly stuttered, staring at his radish intently. "Maybe you and I could...could hang out sometime," he stumbled out, his face turning red. "In school, I mean. Or maybe...maybe after school too sometimes."

Sugizio was silent for a few moments before he stood up suddenly. He paused again where he stood, and looked at Rolly. "Pass," he said bluntly, before turning to leave.

"But... But no one's ever stood up for me before! I thought.." Rolly sniffed, looking down at his bright yellow lunch box.

"You thought what? Thought we'd be buddies? I didn't do that for you. I gave those dumbasses what they deserved. Don't think it was some act of kindness," Sugizio said coldly, over his soldier. He said what he said then walked off, leaving Rolly sniffling over his lunch. He gripped the edges of the tablet, wondering why. Why? he wondered. Why does everyone treat me like this? Why doesn't anyone like me? He bit his tongue, trying to hold back the tears that were nearly foaming in his eyes. If he was seen crying he'd be made fun of severely, but it wasn't as though school could get any worse for poor lonely Rolly. He hadn't had one friend in school since kindergarten and at the idea of finally making one he'd been so happy. But his happiness turned out to be in vain, and his hopes were crushed by a single word. Pass.

Yes, Rolly thought bitterly to himself, That's what everyone thinks about me. Pass. His eyes began to fill up with water now. Pass. His lips trembled and he choked, spluttering into his lunchbox. Pass. He furiously grabbed at his lunch items, throwing them into his powered ranger box and pushing off from the table. Pass. He ran towards the hallway, not knowing where, but running. Pass. As he ran threw a desserted hallway he rubbed at his eyes, wiping wet from them, but while he was doing this his eyes were temporarily strained with the pressure and obstruction and he failed to see as he ran right into a group of boys.

"Ah!" Rolly shouted, falling over backwards, his lunch box falling open and lying there naked like a discarded prostitute, putting its pickled and barely edible contents on display for the world to witness. "S..sumimasen." Rolly said, rubbing the tears from his eyeballs.

"Augh! You little tasselweaver!" one of the boys squelched. "I spilled my latte, you twot!!" Sure enough Rolly could see that a few droplets of late coffee goodness stood proudly on its bearer's shoes, like a spattering of poisoned blood on a dead man's unused dagger. "Ah, I'm sorry... Gomen nasai!" Rolly grumbled, finding himself in trouble again.

"Is that all you got to say, worm?" the boy said. "Surely you can do better than that. Why don't you lick it off for me instead of useless apologies?" he asked, laughing cruelely.

"Wh...what? No, I'm not going to do that!" Rolly said, his eyebrows going up with concern for his situation. It was not a good situation to find oneself in, and with intellect like Rolly's that was easy enough to deduse.

"Oh, the lemon actually has enough guts to stand up for himself for once. Well, we'll teach him what good that does, won't we?? Let's find out what he looks like wearing latte," he said, laughing loudly while the rest of the boys joined in. Rolly's heart sunk. This was the only uniform he had and he'd just washed it last night after he'd been pushed in the mud by a reckless biker. His mother was getting frustrated with him for using so much water, but he didn't want to smell like coffee all week! He didn't know what to do, and only felt more like crying now. He looked up to see the mean boy lift his coffee, ready to poor it on Rolly's head. Said owner of head turned said head down in anticipation of the coffee about to fall on it, not wishing it to get in his eyes, but the coffee bath never came.

Instead Rolly looked up to see a foot fly over his head, which subsequently kicked the coffee out of the hands of the boy where it instead flew right into his face. Rolly couldn't believe it, but it was real and the boy simply stood amazed, his precious latte dripping down his face and uniform. "Aa....Augh!!!" He gurgled. Rolly couldn't believe his luck and swirled around. Now he couldn't believe his eyes instead, as he saw his savior, the amazing Sugizio.

"S-Sugizio-san!!" Rolly said, in awe. Sugizio said nothing to him, but walked in front of Rolly and stood between him and the bullies of the day.

"Who the heck do you think you are, you flipping jerkface! Shoot!! You are so dead, you son of a gun!" one of the boys yelled, enthusiastically. Sugizio only stared at them, managing to glare at them without any emotion to speak of.

One of them lunged from the pack and aimed a punch a Sugizio's head. Sugizio merely extended his arm, punching the boy first and knocking him immediately unconscience. The other boys gackt, but were not swayed, and this time two lunged at Sugizio, who this time flung out both arms, knocking both boys unconscious at once. Only the latte-drinker and his main man were left now and they growled at Sugizio like hungry dogs waiting to devour their pray.

They too threw themselves at Sugizio, but he quickly disposed of them so easily that it doesn't need to even be put into words. When he was satisfied from looking at the pile of unconscious bodies before him he turned to Rolly who was sniffling and staring at Sugizio in awe.

Sugizio bent over and picked up the Rolly lunch container, closing it with a kaclick. He looked at Rolly then, who seemed to be in a state of mild shock. He sighed and stood on his feet, grabbing Rolly by the arm and also pulling him to his feet. "Come along. We don't want to be found here." And with that they walked away from the pile of latte drinkers to a quiet empty classroom, Rolly being pulled along by the arm, forcefully but gently, and Sugizio silently leading him.

"...Thank you," Rolly said quietly, once they were alone.

"It was nothing," replied Sugizio, releasing Rolly's arm.

"Yeah, it was!! I mean...it was something," Rolly said, looking at the ground. "To me."

"Well, whatever. I just happened to be around there," Sugizio said, facing the wall. "Lucky for you, I guess. Anyway, I have better things to be doing." He turned and walked toward the door, making to leave.

"W...wait!" Rolly gasped, stepping after him. "Can you....Can you teach...me?" He asked quietly, blushing.

"Teach you? Teach you what?" Sugizio asked, looking at him suspiciously over his shoulder.

"How to...y'know..." said Rolly, his face aflame, as Sugizio stared unblinking. "To...fight back. You're so strong! I wish...I wish I could be like you."

"Don't be ridiculous. Why the hell would I want to do that?" Sugizio asked, narrowing his eyes.

Rolly lowered his eyes to the ground, sniffling quietly. "I... I just want to be strong. I don't want to be treated this way anymore," he stuttered emotionally.

"...." Sugizio turned to face the door and seemed to hang his head slightly. "Fine. If you can keep up. If not, you gotta piss off." At that he slid the door open and left, without another word or glance.

Rolly stared at the door amazedly. He'd been certain Sugizio was going to refuse him again and again. He couldn't believe his ears, and simply stood in the classroom in astonishmentness. After a few moments of confusion, he realized he'd been smiling. He'd learned something about Sugizio today. As he walked toward the door his smile grew larger with his thoughts and soon he was positively grinning.

"Maybe we will be buddies after all", he whispered, sliding the door shut quietly behind him and walking into the hustle of the school.

Yoshiki's Picnic - 19

Part nineteen - The Transfer Student

Put simply, Rolly was a genius. He was blessed with such unimaginable brainpower that it hurt him to think because he was absorbing so much information at any one time that it clogged the veins in his brain with cells of unending informational possibilities. Any moment one happened to look upon Rolly's skull, they would not be able to see it, but his mind was processing. It was processing so fast that if his brain had not been built to withstand his throbbing thoughts, it would have exploded with even a simple thought such as whether to wear the blue or the purple glittering bodysuit. Though it could be argued that such a thought was not as simple as it may appear. And certainly, to a genius such as Rolly, this question held more weight than the average slob might realize. He could wear blue. But if he wore blue, then he would not be wearing purple. Purple was a strong message to j-rockers. It told them that Rolly could be one of them. It said he was rocking enough that he might one day be of j-rocking status. But if he wore purple he wouldn't be wearing blue. Blue was a symbol to the people, and spoke volumes about a person's abilities. It would suggest Rolly was not someone to be reckoned with.

Unfortunately for Rolly, he was so smart that his brain was over-worked with the very genius thoughts that plagued his brain. His brain veins were squeezed to widths that they were not meant to withstand, leaving his speech slow and his face blank.

Rolly's intelligence had little (If nothing at all) to do with the situation at hand which was Sugizio's imminent world domination. It was only a matter of time before Sugizio amassed victim after victim and thwarted the enemies that decided to throw their bodies at his feet in an attempt to trip him up in his descent to eat the souls of the living and perhaps of the dead as well. But these enemies were merely small speedbumps in the road to evil and sugizio was a steamroller that was faster than light and so these speed impediments were smacked with such incredulous speed that they simply exploded into a pile of asphalt and defeated shame.

Rolly was observing Sugizio while he thought about the destruction he was sure to collect and thought back as the dark man spit in Yoshiki's face. It was over twenty three years ago that they met, he and Rolly. Rolly was just the average genious trapped in a fool's brain studying for cram school. He'd been going to Seppuku High for two years now and still had no friends at all. They'd never liked Rolly because he wore his uniform to tight and was either to smart or to be stupid. Rolly's thoughts drifted back to that fateful day, smoothly, like a wave washing over a desert.

"What are you doing, you pootard?!" he said, slamming Rolly's book shut, which he had been studying from. Rolly looked up to see a group of boys who were looking to bully, and he was there target of the afternoon, and he was usually their target most every afternoon. Their strong leader was Kurayamashidonandakamirakumipirutandoromu-kun, and he wasn't a very nice person. He was known as the baddest kid at Seppuku and he liked to pick on Rolly especially.

"Reading more BOOKS? How dumb is that. You're dumb and ugly," the bully said. He laughed and his croonies laughed in unisex. "Yeah, you're dumb, and ugly!!" One of them said. "He totally is, it is true," said another in a puny voice.

Rolly looked up from his school man's desk, and said, "Look, I don't want any trouble today, Kurayamashido--"

"You don't want trouble?! Well, you got it, you big fat lardmuncher!" He growled. Rolly blushed, wondering how they'd discovered his habit of snacking on coagulated animal fat.

"Well, I don't want it! Leave me be! I just want to exercise my massive concretion in peaceful bliss without confrontation or trouble!" Rolly cried out, impassionately, holding his hands to his chest for persuasive effect.

The oppressors were not swayed by Rolly's moving and concise speech. Pulling his arm back, getting ready to punch Rolly in the face, Kurayama--

"Hey, what's that stench. Oh, it's you piles of night soil," a sharp voice made sound and pierced through the quiet swish of a jacket being stretched as a fist was pulled back ready to punch someone defenseless who was just trying to study.

The bullies were shocked. The bullies turned around to see a young student. The student stood straight and had an heir of confidence about him as though he was so phlegmatic he could take on the world. He wore a mask and a cape along with his regular school uniform, and Rolly recognized him as the new transfer student.

"Who do you think, you are? Your so dead buster," the leader bully grasped.

And with that he ran at the transfer student, but the transfer student was agile and he dodged the bullies punch that was aimed for his face and instead bunched the pully in his own face leaving him consciousless. When they saw this, Kurayamashidonandakamirakumipirutandoromu-kun's compadres were frightened of the foreboding scholarly transfer boy. They tried to shuffle out of the classroom to safety, but the transferred boy knocked them unconscientious as they rolled by.

"Sugoi, that was definitely amazing!" Rolly said, running over to the mysterious transfer student. "How can I ever repay you for such kindness.."

"You don't need to do anything. I hate bullies, so it's nothing personal," the masked transfer said blatantly.

"At least let me know of what you are called," Rolly said, somewhat sadly.

"You mean my name?"

"Yes, I'm Rolly."

"Rolly, huh? That's a nice name. Well, Rolly, my name is Sugizio."

"Sugizio.." Rolly repeated, and smiled.

And that was how they met. But it would not be the last time they met, or the most memorable.

No, Rolly and Sugizio had a long history together, and this wasn't even the beginning of it, but merely a start. Things were just beginning now.
